VINFAST is a pioneering electric vehicle (EV) company committed to revolutionizing the automotive industry with sustainable and innovative mobility solutions. As a leading player in the EV market, VinFast is dedicated to delivering high‑quality, cutting‑edge electric vehicles that redefine the driving experience. Our team consists of passionate professionals driven by a shared vision of creating a greener and more sustainable future through innovation, technology, and excellence.
VinFast is developing a Level 4 robotaxi alongside a growing portfolio of L2 and L2+ production vehicles. We are looking for a Lead Engineer to take full ownership of ADAS components; cameras, radars, lidars, ultrasonic sensors, positioning units and the ADAS domain controller, across hardware, software and mechanical disciplines.
This is an end‑to‑end ownership role, not a coordination role. You will define what a component must do, choose the supplier who will build it, challenge their design when it falls short, and carry it through validation to start of production. You will work on production programs and on an L4 robotaxi being designed from a blank sheet.
What you will do
Component ownership
- Own assigned ADAS components through their full lifecycle: concept, specification, supplier selection, development, validation, production launch and field support.
- Write and maintain component requirement specifications covering hardware, software, mechanical, environmental and EMC/ELK/ENV requirements.
- Own the component interface definition with the vehicle and with the ADAS domain controller, including electrical, data, timing and power interfaces.
- Own component‑level power, thermal and packaging budgets, and defend them in vehicle‑level design reviews.
Supplier development
- Lead technical supplier selection: prepare RFI and RFQ technical packages, evaluate responses, benchmark candidates and make technical nomination recommendations.
- Drive supplier technical reviews through each program gate concept, design freeze, design validation, product validation and SOP.
- Review supplier deliverables in depth: schematics, layout, thermal analysis, mechanical design, FMEA, FMEDA, test reports.
- Hold suppliers to their commitments on technical content, timing and quality, and escalate with evidence when they slip.
Engineering and validation
- Define and review the design verification plan, track issues found in validation and drive them to closure.
- Lead or participate in design reviews across schematic, layout, signal integrity, thermal, EMC and mechanical packaging.
- Support functional safety activities at component level: safety requirements, FMEA and FMEDA inputs, safety manual and assumptions‑of‑use review.
- Support cybersecurity, homologation and regulatory evidence for the component.
- Analyse field and validation failures, drive root cause to closure and feed improvements back into the design.
Cross‑functional work
- Work closely with vehicle E/E architecture, thermal, packaging, wiring harness, manufacturing, quality and purchasing teams.
- Manage APQP and PPAP activities, engineering change management and part lifecycle for assigned components.
- Mentor junior engineers in the component team and raise the technical standard of reviews across the group.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or a related field.
- At least 6 years in automotive electronic component or system development, including 3 or more years working specifically on ADAS.
- You have personally owned at least one ADAS component through to start of production, not supported it, owned it.
- Hands‑on experience with at least two of: camera, radar, lidar, ultrasonic sensor, or ADAS ECU/domain controller.
- Solid grounding in automotive electronics fundamentals: power supply design, EMC, signal integrity, thermal management, connectors and environmental qualification.
- Working knowledge of automotive interfaces: CAN and CAN FD, automotive Ethernet, GMSL or FPD‑Link, LIN.
- Practical ISO 26262 experience, you have produced or reviewed real safety work products, not just attended the training.
- Fluent in automotive development processes: APQP, PPAP, DVP&R, 8D and engineering change management.
- Demonstrated ability to challenge a supplier’s design with data and hold a technical position under commercial pressure.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Benefits
- Competitive salary
- Premium healthcare package, including PVI insurance & annual health check‑ups, 13th‑month salary & performance bonuses to reward your contributions
- Enjoy preferential pricing for services within the Vingroup ecosystem including Vinmec, Vinpearl, and Vinschool…
- Opportunity to collaborate with and learn from industry‑leading professionals in the automotive domain
