Description

At the World Bank Group (WBG), you will join a diverse, global community working across cultures, disciplines, and borders to address the world’s most pressing development challenges. With 1.2 billion young people reaching working age in the decade ahead, the challenge of job creation has never been greater. Through partnerships across 145 countries and more than 182 offices worldwide, we work with governments, the private sector, development partners, and other stakeholders to invest in people, strengthen markets, and deliver scalable, data‑driven solutions that generate more and better jobs and improve lives. For more information, visit www.worldbank.org
The World Bank Group (WBG) through its Planet Vertical and Farming and Agribusiness (FAB) Department, supports the transformation of food and agricultural systems by promoting private sector investment, innovation, and market development across agricultural value chains. Working across the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank, and other WBG institutions, the FAB Department seeks to strengthen agricultural productivity, enhance food security, improve farmer livelihoods, expand access to markets and services, and scale sustainable agribusiness solutions. A key priority of the Department is the implementation of AgriConnect, the WBG's flagship initiative to accelerate private sector‑led agricultural transformation by strengthening farmer organizations, expanding commercial linkages, increasing access to services and finance, and reaching millions of farmers through scalable market‑based solutions.
The Agribusiness Leadership Program (ALP) is a scalable capacity‑building platform developed by IFC that directly contributes to these objectives by strengthening the organizational, managerial, and commercial capabilities of farmer organizations, cooperatives, and agricultural enterprises. Through its two core components, ALP Metrics and ALP Delivery, the program assesses business performance and management practices and provides targeted training, coaching, and technical assistance to address identified capacity gaps. By improving governance, financial management, business planning, market engagement, and operational performance, ALP enables farmer organizations to become stronger aggregation partners and more reliable participants in modern agricultural value chains. The program is currently being implemented through more than 50 client engagements across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
As AgriConnect expands across the WBG portfolio, ALP is increasingly recognized as an important enabling platform for achieving key development objectives, including strengthening farmer organizations, supporting private sector engagement, improving market access, and increasing the number of farmers reached through sustainable commercial partnerships. ALP's standardized assessment methodology, blended learning approach, and growing suite of digital delivery tools provide a cost‑effective and scalable mechanism for reaching large numbers of farmer organizations and generating impact at scale. The continued expansion of ALP across both IFC and World Bank operations has created a need for additional technical, digital, and operational support to further enhance the ALP Metrics and ALP Delivery platforms, support innovation in learning and data systems, and ensure the program can continue to scale effectively in support of AgriConnect and broader WBG development objectives.
