Job Summary
VinFast is seeking a Purchasing Lead to initiate strategies for purchasing activities, build strong partnerships with strategic partners and suppliers, and maintain a high-performance culture within the team.
Responsibilities
- Initiate purchasing strategies with HOD and BOD.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with strategic partners/key suppliers domestically and internationally.
- Foster a high-performance culture in the assigned team.
- Lead emergency resourcing, production expediting, and actions to reduce or eliminate plant line stoppages.
- Identify vendor opportunities and challenges, partnering with program management, engineering, plant production control, and logistics for resolution.
- Develop, issue, track, and report performance improvement and recovery plans.
- Understand commodity part manufacturing and component cost elements, working with suppliers to further cost‑down efforts.
- Negotiate contractual terms regarding cost, delivery, quality, transportation, and other standard or special contract terms.
- Maintain purchase price and raw material price trends and analysis.
- Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities to ensure completion of requirements.
- Comply with established corporate and purchasing policy and processes.
- Maintain purchase order files (quotes, blanket orders, warrants, prints, design changes, etc.) to support the company’s quality system requirements.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or equivalent Supply Chain Management experience.
- At least 10 years of purchasing experience, ideally in the Automotive or Manufacturing industries.
- Ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans.
- Communicate directly with management and cross‑functional leaders as required.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Inquisitive, detail‑oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent MS Office (Excel, MSQuery, Access, PowerPoint) capabilities.
- Experience in SAP/ERP.
- Good command of English (all four skills).
