Description & Requirements
About the Job
As a Senior Analyst, Sourcing (Indoor Furniture & Mattresses), you will drive category execution, supplier performance, and commercial negotiations for one of the most critical home categories within Sam’s Club. Operating from Ho Chi Minh City, you will serve as the commercial and operational link between global merchandising teams and regional manufacturers.
In this 12‑month fixed‑term role, you will manage end‑to‑end sourcing lifecycles, lead competitive bidding events, enforce strict cost and delivery benchmarks, and ensure category continuity across our rapidly growing Member’s Mark portfolio.
About the Team
At Sam’s Club, our growth is powered by our obsession with delivering premium quality, unexpected design, and disruptive value to our members. Our private brand, Member’s Mark, represents our commitment to items that are thoughtfully designed, sustainably sourced, and commercially competitive.
The Global Sourcing team in Vietnam operates at the forefront of this mission. We are accelerating a direct‑to‑factory, resilient, and transparent supply chain that reduces lead times while maintaining uncompromising ethical, environmental, and product safety standards. Embedded in a collaborative enterprise culture, our team leverages modern digital tools, moves with agility, and empowers associates to take direct ownership in shaping the products that furnish and bring comfort to millions of member homes worldwide.
About the Role
As a Senior Analyst, Sourcing (Indoor Furniture & Mattresses), you will lead day‑to‑day sourcing execution and operational governance across indoor living, dining, bedroom case goods, upholstered seating, and mattress programs (including hybrid, foam, and compressed mattress‑in‑a‑box lines). You will partner directly with global merchants, technical quality engineers, packaging specialists, and regional supplier leadership to translate product concepts into high‑volume commercial production.
This is a 12‑month fixed‑term assignment dedicated to driving category performance and supplier execution during a period of strategic delivery, with opportunities for high‑performing talent to explore broader enterprise opportunities across Walmart and Sam’s Club based on business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Category Execution – Partner with global merchandising and sourcing managers to execute category sourcing plans for indoor furniture and mattresses that expand Member’s Mark market share, protect margin targets, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Commercial Procurement & Should‑Cost Modeling – Lead RFx events (RFI, RFP, RFQ) and build detailed bottom‑up cost breakdowns across raw materials (timber, engineered wood, foam, steel coil units, upholstery fabrics), labor, factory overhead, and packaging.
- Technical Sourcing & Product Commercialization – Manage development timelines from initial design briefs and 3D specifications through to sample approvals and bulk production, ensuring factory execution matches aesthetic, structural, and packaging density requirements (e.g., roll‑pack compression ratios).
- Compliance & Quality Governance – Partner with technical quality teams to ensure supplier adherence to international regulatory and safety standards (including flammability protocols, CertiPUR‑US®, OEKO‑TEX®, and timber traceability/sustainability compliance) and drive consistent On‑Time, In‑Full (OTIF) delivery.
- Supplier Capability & Capacity Planning – Evaluate factory footprints, automated manufacturing capabilities, foam‑pouring lines, assembly lines, and warehouse capacity across regional supply markets to de‑risk seasonal peaks and ensure supply continuity.
- Commodity & Trade Intelligence – Monitor upstream material price indices (chemical polyols/TDI, steel wire, lumber, textiles), shipping trends, and trade compliance developments to inform negotiation strategies.
- Merchant Engagement & Factory Reviews – Plan, coordinate, and lead comprehensive factory audits, sample reviews, and strategic merchant buying trips across regional manufacturing facilities.
- Data‑Driven Operations – Utilize enterprise PLM/procurement platforms and analytics dashboards to maintain data integrity, eliminate workflow bottlenecks, and deliver executive‑ready category recommendations.
What You’ll Bring
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Industrial Engineering, Merchandising, or a related discipline.
- Experience – 3 to 5+ years of progressive sourcing, merchandising, or manufacturing experience, with direct exposure to Indoor Furniture (case goods, dining, upholstery) and/or Mattresses/Bedding supporting major multinational retailers or global brands.
- Technical & Industry Fluency – Strong understanding of furniture and mattress manufacturing methods, raw material properties (foam densities, coil gauges, wood kiln drying, veneers, performance fabrics), freight packaging optimization, and international safety/flammability certifications.
- Commercial & Analytical Rigor – Proven track record in bill‑of‑materials (BOM) cost breakdowns, competitive bidding, supplier contract management, and margin optimization. Advanced proficiency in Excel and business analytics tools.
- Language & Communication – Professional business fluency in both English and Vietnamese (written and verbal) is required; working proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage for direct manufacturer coordination.
- Professional Attributes – High accountability, proactive problem‑solving under ambiguity, exceptional cross‑functional stakeholder management, and ability to collaborate effectively across global time zones.
