JOB SUMMARY
Establish and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident‑free, healthy work environment that is compliant with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures and employee communications regarding safety guidelines. Train employees in safe workplace practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement general safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state, regional, and national safety and health rules and regulations.
- Consult with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs.
- Lay out manufacturing workspace to optimize safe working environment.
- Formulate appropriate safety policies and guidelines.
- Inspect or tour facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards.
- Recommend corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Keep managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances.
- Develop training programs and communications to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness.
- Participate in accident/injury investigations.
- Maintain safety files and records.
- May report to management on health and safety issues and concerns.
- Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
